Breathnach calls on Minister to intervene to resolve eFlow dispute

Published on: 08 July 2016

Fianna Fáil TD for Louth and Meath East Declan Breathnach has called on the Minister for Transport Shane Ross to intervene in the dispute between eFlow and Celtic Roads Group.

If left unresolved the dispute will result in eFlow customers no longer being able to use the express lane at the M1 toll near Drogheda as their tags will no longer be recognised.

Declan Breathnach said, “I’m aware that both companies are involved in on-going discussions, but the Minister should intervene to ensure a solution is found. The toll booth on the M1 near Drogheda is already congested and the removal of the eFlow barrier will cause further delays for motorists.

“It’s hard to believe that at a time when other countries are moving towards barrier free tolling we are instead moving backwards by demanding motorists have cash in hand in order to pass through a toll. Minister Ross needs to ensure that a solution is found to settle this dispute without delay.”
